Breast cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death among women in the United States.1 However, breast cancer is not always detectable using mammography, and breast self-examination can be more harmful than good. Up to 46% of women with invasive cancer will have negative mammogram's when in fact they had cancer present in their breasts.
